This research report investigates the adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI) within organizations, focusing on the role of a Chief AI Officer (CAIO) and the importance of a unified asset strategy. Conducted by Vanson Bourne and sponsored by Iron Mountain, the study surveyed 700 IT and data decision-makers across six countries. Findings indicate that 93% of organizations are currently utilizing generative AI, with 98% of respondents acknowledging that a CAIO could further accelerate this adoption. However, only 32% of organizations currently employ a CAIO, though this number is projected to rise to 94%. The report also highlights that 96% of participants believe a unified asset strategy is essential for successful generative AI initiatives. Additionally, it outlines various challenges associated with generative AI, including ensuring model accuracy and managing data, while emphasizing the potential benefits of having a CAIO to bridge gaps between IT and data management teams.
