Generative AI Misuse Taxonomy and Real-World Insights

This research article presents a comprehensive taxonomy of tactics used in the misuse of generative AI (GenAI) technologies. Drawing from 200 real-world incidents reported between January 2023 and March 2024, the authors analyze patterns of exploitation, motivations, and strategies employed by malicious actors. The findings aim to inform policymakers and researchers about the risks associated with GenAI and guide the development of effective mitigation strategies.
