This case study details the data protection strategy employed by Centerbase, a cloud-based legal practice management solution, to enhance their disaster recovery capabilities. The primary objective was to minimize downtime costs and improve data recovery efficiency, particularly in light of the significant financial implications associated with downtime, which the Ponemon Institute estimates at $9,000 per minute. Centerbase faced challenges in reducing restore times from their immutable cloud repository, prompting the need for a robust solution. They selected Ootbi by Object First as their backup solution, which integrates seamlessly with their existing Veeam storage. The implementation of Ootbi resulted in a 50% reduction in Recovery Point Objective (RPO), decreasing it from 8 hours to 4 hours, and positioned Centerbase to further decrease Recovery Time Objective (RTO) in the future. The case study outlines the importance of immutability and backup speed in maintaining data integrity and protecting critical infrastructure.
