This case study documents the cybersecurity transformation of Indiana's MSD Martinsville school district, which serves approximately 4,500 students across 13 buildings. Director of Technology Will Miers prioritized enhancing the district's cybersecurity infrastructure following a severe ransomware attack on a neighboring district. The existing disjointed security measures left the district vulnerable to sophisticated phishing attacks and malware. To address these challenges, MSD Martinsville collaborated with technology vendor Five Star to evaluate various cybersecurity solutions. ActZero was selected for its ease of integration and autonomous response capabilities. The implementation of ActZero has led to significant improvements in cybersecurity management, allowing the district to effectively monitor and respond to threats. Miers noted that the partnership has strengthened their cybersecurity posture without adding complexity to operations. The case study illustrates how MSD Martinsville has become a model for other districts by focusing on education while ensuring robust cybersecurity measures are in place.
