This case study outlines the efforts of Abbanoa S.p.A. in Sardinia, Italy, to address the challenge of non-revenue water (NRW) due to significant water losses from leaking pipes. With approximately 53% of water losses attributed to leaks, which is nearly double the global average, the urgency to improve water conservation is emphasized. Abbanoa has partnered with Itron to implement solid-state water meters, specifically the Intelis® wSource™ smart meters, to enhance data collection and billing accuracy.
