This case study details the experience of a U.S.-based oil and gas midstream service provider that transitioned from using Sundyne OH6 pumps to Goulds Pumps VICR (Vertically Suspended Can Radial) Type VS6 Pump in 2019. The objective of this switch was to address the frequent and costly repairs associated with the OH6 pumps, which were critical to their operations. The new VICR pump operates at a lower speed of 3600rpm compared to the OH6's 8693rpm, resulting in reduced wear and tear, extended operating life, and significantly decreased maintenance needs. Since its installation, the VICR pump has not required any repairs or seal changes, and maintenance can be performed without disrupting production. The customer expressed high satisfaction with the VICR pump, noting it has greatly improved uptime and reliability. Additionally, the company purchased a spare VICR pump shortly after implementation, which has not been needed after three years of operation.
