This case study details the infrastructure automation process undertaken to streamline the deployment of Kubernetes and AWX on AWS Cloud for a publishing industry client with 3,000 employees. The client faced challenges with their onsite Kubernetes and aging infrastructure, which were manual and inconsistent, leading to operational inefficiencies. To address these issues, an automated solution was developed using Terraform and Ansible, focusing on deploying a consistent EKS cluster, setting up AWX on the cluster, and automating AWX task management. The solution aimed to optimize infrastructure management and facilitate a smooth migration to AWS. The results included an estimated $50,000 in hardware cost savings, enhanced operational efficiency, improved infrastructure reliability, and increased scalability. The client successfully migrated to AWS, eliminating previous inconsistencies and manual processes, thereby achieving a reliable and scalable infrastructure that supports their evolving business needs.
