NPMHU Case Study on System Modernization

This case study details the collaboration between the National Postal Mail Handlers Union (NPMHU) and JayStar to modernize NPMHU's outdated systems. The existing systems were burdened with high maintenance demands and lacked adequate documentation, leading to significant administrative challenges. JayStar was selected as the solutions provider based on positive recommendations from other unions. They analyzed the legacy RPG code and data, gaining insights into the existing functionality, which facilitated a smooth data migration to the JayStar PRIZM system. The implementation of the new system resulted in numerous benefits, including the elimination of redundant processes, a reduction in manual efforts, and decreased expenses related to external vendor services. This allowed NPMHU staff to focus more on core union missions and member services rather than administrative tasks. The project adhered to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices, and customizations were made to the PRIZM product to meet NPMHU's specific needs.
