This technical report presents the Kearney Index of Social Performance (KISP), which evaluates how companies perform in the social dimension of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria. The report outlines the findings from a survey of 602 mid-size and large companies, focusing on their social impact initiatives aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It details the varying levels of social maturity among companies, categorizing them into four stages: leaders, lifters, learners, and laggards, based on their KISP scores. The report highlights that while many companies are increasing their investments in social initiatives, there remains a significant disparity in performance across industries and geographies. Health companies tend to score higher in social maturity, whereas financial services lag behind. The report emphasizes the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies in enhancing social impact and suggests that companies should engage more with their communities to improve their social performance.
