Keycloak Deployment Survey Results Analysis

This report presents the findings from a distribution survey conducted by the Cloud Native team regarding real-world Keycloak deployments. The survey aimed to gather insights on user challenges, deployment characteristics, and operator adoption. Conducted over approximately two months, the survey included 27 questions and received 366 responses. Key findings indicate that the majority of users are running Keycloak version 26.4.x, with a significant number managing deployments primarily through Kubernetes. The survey also highlights key user challenges, particularly in initial configuration, where issues such as understanding configuration options and clustering complexities were prevalent. Additionally, the report discusses the adoption of the Keycloak Operator, revealing that only 15.5% of respondents utilize it, citing limited documentation and advanced usage examples as major concerns. The survey results emphasize the community's desire for improved Helm chart support and better documentation, reflecting the need for enhanced user experience and operational efficiency.
