This case study details the collaboration between BAT, a global consumer goods company, and 4flow, a supply chain consulting firm, to implement the Kinaxis Transportation Load Optimizer (TLO) by 4flow. The objective was to enhance BAT's outbound transportation network, which is critical given its extensive operations that include over 50 manufacturing sites and nearly 800 warehouses worldwide. Prior to this implementation, BAT faced challenges with transportation planning due to reliance on non-standard tools like Excel and SAP APO TLB, leading to data inconsistencies and inefficiencies. The Kinaxis TLO was rolled out in the United States as a pilot project, aiming to standardize transportation planning and improve efficiency. The results included significant advancements in planning visibility and collaboration among departments, with nearly 90% of stock transport orders now generated automatically. Following the success in the U.S., BAT plans to expand the implementation to additional markets, including Brazil and beyond, focusing on both domestic and export networks.
