This document is a research article that presents Globally-Guided Geometric Fabrics (G3F), a framework designed for real-time motion generation in mobile manipulators operating within dynamic environments. The article outlines the limitations of existing global and local planning methods, emphasizing the need for a solution that combines the strengths of both approaches. G3F interleaves an optimization-based planner with a reactive geometric motion planner, allowing for effective adaptation to environmental changes while considering the full task horizon. The framework incorporates collision avoidance and the physical constraints of the robot, enabling it to explore multiple acceptable target poses for task completion. The authors validate their approach through simulations and real-world experiments, demonstrating improved success rates compared to traditional methods such as Geometric Fabrics, Prioritized Rollout Fabrics, and Model Predictive Control. The findings indicate that G3F enhances the performance of mobile manipulators in environments shared with humans and other robots, facilitating efficient execution of object-centric tasks.
