This case study outlines the cybersecurity training initiatives implemented at Hood College in response to increasing phishing threats targeting staff and students. The document details the collaboration with KnowBe4 to enhance security awareness among the college community. The training program aimed to reduce successful phishing attempts and involved a three-pronged approach: initial phishing campaigns to assess vulnerability, new hire training during onboarding, and ongoing training for existing staff. The results showed a decrease in click rates on simulated phishing links, moving from 12% to 10%. Additionally, the case study highlights the deployment of KnowBe4's Student Edition to educate students about cyber threats, with nearly 40% of the student population completing the training. The Phish Alert Button was also introduced, enabling users to report suspicious emails easily. Overall, the case study emphasizes the importance of proactive training in fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness within higher education institutions.
