This case study details the transition of TaxAct to Workday Financials following its separation from a larger corporate framework. The objective was to replicate the existing configuration from the parent tenant while converting seven years of general ledger (GL) data at the transaction level. The process involved preserving original support attachments and ensuring that users could access historical data seamlessly in the new system. TaxAct faced significant challenges, including the need to convert approximately 100,000 journals and 700,000 journal lines, each requiring unique attachments. Kognitiv provided support in developing a solution for data conversion and attachment extraction, which included custom automation for loading historical data accurately. The project was completed on time, allowing all detailed financial data to be available in the new Workday tenant as if originally posted there, without the need for an external repository for attachments. This successful implementation highlights the complexities involved in transitioning financial systems.
