This case study details the implementation of the FabEagle®MES (Manufacturing Execution System) at Solarge Productions B.V. for their solar module production facility in Weert, Netherlands. The project aimed to enhance production efficiency and ensure quality control through the integration of advanced automation and monitoring systems. Key challenges included the customization of the MES to support specific processes such as module grading, sorting, and packaging, as well as the integration with existing ERP systems. The solution involved establishing OPC UA interfaces for data transfer between the MES and factory equipment, along with the setup of configurable workstations for real-time information visualization. The results highlighted the successful use of MES features for production control, quality assurance, and material traceability, meeting IEC and ISO requirements. The collaboration between Solarge and Kontron AIS was crucial for overcoming integration challenges and achieving project goals, ultimately contributing to sustainable energy transition efforts through innovative solar technology.
