Implementation of FabEagle®MES for Solar Production

This document is a success story detailing the implementation of the FabEagle®MES by Meyer Burger Technology AG in collaboration with Kontron AIS for solar cell and module production. The project aimed to integrate over 100 machines of various types and to collect track and trace data at the single solar cell level. The solution involved introducing a tailored Automation Capability Management (ACM) process and implementing virtual single wafer tracking. The document outlines the challenges faced, including the integration of legacy equipment and the need for reliable equipment interfaces. It describes the close collaboration between project managers, the establishment of a virtualized IT infrastructure, and the successful execution of functional acceptance tests. The result is a fully integrated system that enhances production efficiency and data availability for quality monitoring across multiple sites. The FabEagle®MES now supports gigawatt-scale production at Meyer Burger's facilities in Thalheim and Freiberg.
