This case study details the migration of a global retail enterprise's ETL processes from Informatica PowerCenter to Apache NiFi, aimed at modernizing its data infrastructure. The organization, which operates over 400 retail locations and manages millions of transactions, faced significant challenges due to lengthy batch processing times of 4 to 8 hours, escalating licensing costs, and an inability to support real-time data analytics. Ksolves was engaged to facilitate this migration without disrupting live operations. The deployment involved transitioning 143 workflows across five data domains to a high-availability Kubernetes cluster, enabling real-time and batch processing on a unified architecture. The results included a 65% reduction in data processing time, with batch jobs completing in 1.4 to 2.5 hours, and a 45% reduction in total cost of ownership. The new system supports real-time data availability within 90 seconds, enhancing decision-making capabilities and operational efficiency.
