Attitudes Towards Extreme Weather Events and Water Restrictions

This report presents the findings of a survey conducted among Canadians regarding their perceptions and experiences related to extreme weather events and water restrictions. The survey, which included 1,512 respondents aged 18 and older, was conducted online from June 12 to June 15, 2026. The methodology involved weighting the results to ensure a representative sample of the Canadian population. Key findings indicate that a significant majority of Canadians perceive an increase in extreme weather events, such as forest fires and extreme heat, over the past five years. Additionally, the report highlights that 30% of respondents reported being personally impacted by extreme weather in the past year. Regarding water restrictions, 32% of Canadians indicated that such restrictions exist in their area, with a majority supporting them. The report also discusses the general awareness and attitudes towards water conservation and management of water supply in different regions of Canada.
