This case study documents the implementation of LEOTEK's human-centric LED roadway lighting systems in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, aimed at reducing nighttime traffic accidents. The city faced significant challenges with poor visibility at intersections, leading to a high rate of nighttime accidents, particularly in rural areas. To address this issue, LEOTEK introduced a dual-color temperature road lighting system, replacing conventional yellow lights with white lights to enhance visibility and driver attention. The results of this initiative were significant, with a reported 30% reduction in nighttime accidents following the installation of the new lighting systems. The study outlines the effectiveness of this innovative approach, which not only improved road safety but also set a benchmark for future traffic safety measures in Taiwan. The success of the pilot project led to further expansion of the lighting systems across additional districts in Taoyuan City, demonstrating the positive impact of adopting advanced lighting technologies on public safety.
