This case study details the implementation of a high temperature electric submersible pump (ESP) system by Levare in a geothermal well with a reservoir temperature of 195°C (383°F). The customer faced a significant decrease in production, dropping from 200 to 120 m3/h. The Levare ESP system was developed to address this challenge, featuring a metal bellow protector designed for high temperature applications and a 980HP Permanent Magnet Motor capable of withstanding temperatures up to 230°C (446°F). The installation of this system successfully restored well production to its historical maximum of 200 m3/h and contributed an additional 1 MW of energy to the power plant. The case study highlights the effectiveness of the Levare solution in enhancing geothermal energy production while also achieving a reduction in carbon footprint due to lower power consumption compared to traditional induction motors. The ESP system operates stably at 48 Hz with a flow rate of 5,250 m3/d (1.4M GPD).
