This case study details the implementation and performance of Levare’s rodless Permanent Magnet Motor-Progressive Cavity Pump (PMM-PCP) system in mature Colombian oil fields, specifically in the Dina Terciarios and Loma Larga fields. The objective was to improve run life and reduce intervention costs associated with conventional artificial lift systems that faced challenges due to high solids production and abrasive fluids. The PMM-PCP technology achieved significant run life improvements, with one installation operating for 1,015 days, representing a 214% increase over traditional systems, while another achieved a 990-day run life, improving performance by 274%. The case study outlines the advanced technologies incorporated into the system, such as a high-torque PMM and enhanced Flex Shaft, which contributed to its reliability and operational stability. Additionally, the study highlights the successful deployment of the deepest PMM-PCP system in Colombia at 8,760 ft, showcasing the technology's effectiveness in challenging environments.
