This case study outlines the efforts by USAID/Mexico to update its Performance Management Plan (PMP) as part of its recently revised Country Development Coordination Strategy (CDCS). The PMP aims to serve as a crucial tool for monitoring the Mission's performance and ensuring accountability. To enhance staff engagement with the PMP, MESA and PRO implemented creative strategies, including competitions and a virtual Escape Room, which significantly increased participation rates. The updated PMP was designed to be more than a compliance document; it was intended to actively involve staff in the monitoring processes. As a result of these innovative approaches, staff reported increased familiarity with the PMP and its content, fostering a sense of ownership. This case illustrates the importance of collaboration and adaptability in performance management and highlights the potential for creative methods to enhance learning and engagement within the organization.
