Maximizing LLM Effectiveness with Style Guides

This technical report outlines the integration of style guides into Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance automated translations. It details the challenges faced by a global technology company in applying a comprehensive 100-page style guide containing 500 specific rules to their in-house LLM for website transcreation and marketing email translations. The report describes a three-phase approach undertaken by Lionbridge, which included extracting and preparing style guide rules, testing and validating them, and conducting human evaluations to ensure adherence to the brand's voice. The final results indicate that the integration of style guide rules into LLM prompts improved translation quality significantly, achieving a 30 percent reduction in translation costs and enhancing global communication.
