This technical report investigates the efficiency of warm and cool white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in illuminating stainless steel vessels. The study aims to determine which color temperature of white light is most effective for viewing the interior of these vessels. The report outlines the experimental setup, where a warm white Lumex LED and a cool white Lumex LED were tested for luminosity using an Extech 401027 Pocket Foot Candle Light Meter. Results indicated that the cool white LED was more effective, producing a higher light output reflected from the stainless steel surface. The report also discusses the properties of white light, including its composition and how different materials, such as stainless steel, interact with various light frequencies. The findings suggest that cool white light enhances visibility within stainless steel vessels due to its higher reflectivity compared to warm white light, which tends to be absorbed more. This study provides valuable insights for industries utilizing stainless steel vessels in their processes.
