This case study details Dekra's implementation of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11, highlighting the use of Hydra as a management tool. Dekra, a global testing, inspection, and certification firm, operates in over 60 countries and faced challenges in scaling AVD deployments without increasing IT headcount. The previous deployment method using Terraform was limited, requiring multiple runs to deploy a full environment, which was time-consuming. With Hydra, the deployment process was streamlined, reducing configuration time from 1.5 hours to just 20 minutes and enabling the deployment of 40 to 50 hosts in a single run. The case study outlines the significant improvements in onboarding new team members, image management, and overall operational efficiency. The AVD team, consisting of three members, now manages global operations effectively, allowing them to focus on strategic initiatives while maintaining high performance in AVD management.
