This case study documents how DMK Group, a major dairy cooperative in Europe, optimized its Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) management using Hydra. The organization faced significant challenges due to its large-scale operations, which included managing approximately 1,800 concurrent users across over 300 servers. The transition from Citrix to AVD revealed inefficiencies in native management tools, leading to excessive manual workloads and helpdesk limitations. To address these issues, DMK selected Hydra for its focused feature set and rapid deployment capabilities. The implementation of Hydra enabled auto-scaling of resources, which resulted in a 20% reduction in Azure costs, and empowered helpdesk staff with session management tools, enhancing user support. Additionally, Hydra facilitated streamlined image management, allowing DMK to maintain a consistent operational framework across its locations in Germany and the Netherlands. Overall, the adoption of Hydra significantly improved operational efficiency and reduced administrative effort by 50%.
