This case study outlines the implementation of the Cerner Millennium electronic medical record (EMR) solution by a regional government healthcare provider in a large Nordic country. The document describes the challenges faced in delivering patient care-related documents across a diverse environment with over 20,000 printers and 1.7 million residents. Key issues included the inability of many printers to handle PostScript data streams generated by the Millennium software and connectivity problems with external care providers. The case study details how LRS software was chosen to address these challenges, providing a certified interface to the Cerner EMR and enabling secure printing capabilities both within and outside the organization’s network. The implementation resulted in improved document delivery, enhanced functionality, and risk mitigation for the EMR project. The study concludes with the benefits of a scalable print management environment that supports increased document volumes without additional hardware.
