Optimizing Clinical Trial Recruitment for Diversity and Inclusion

This case study focuses on health equity in rare diseases, specifically examining the recruitment of Black and Hispanic populations for clinical trials. It outlines the objectives of analyzing claims data and integrating qualitative insights to understand the impact of social determinants of health. The research approach includes developing patient profiles based on secondary health data and qualitative interviews, determining disease prevalence by race and geography, and understanding the experiences of Black and Hispanic patients. The study emphasizes the importance of identifying clinical trial recruitment strategies that prioritize diverse patient populations. It documents advanced data analytics used to identify optimal clinical trial sites and healthcare providers, as well as synthesizing insights from key stakeholders. The findings suggest that tailored recruitment strategies can enhance clinical trial enrollment among diverse patients, addressing unmet needs and improving health outcomes.
