This case study documents the implementation of Mantle's TrueShape™ technology in a high-volume dishwasher production line by a global manufacturer of consumer appliances. The objective was to replace a conventional plastic injection mold component with a printed insert to improve production efficiency. The Mantle insert was produced in 46 hours, significantly reducing lead time by 71% compared to traditional methods. Quality analysis confirmed that the insert met dimensional tolerance and surface finish specifications, allowing it to be used without additional processing. Following a successful initial run of 200,000 parts, the insert showed minimal wear and was reinstalled for another production run. The study outlines the cost savings achieved, with the printed insert costing 67% less than its conventional counterpart. The positive evaluation results indicate that Mantle's technology can match the performance of traditionally manufactured inserts while offering substantial time and cost advantages, leading to plans for further evaluations in other applications.
