This technical report presents a material performance study conducted by Mantle in collaboration with third-party experts, focusing on the comparison of Mantle's printed H13 tool steel and traditional wrought H13 tool steel. The study evaluates the performance of both materials during standard toolmaking operations and injection molding processes. It documents that Mantle's printed H13 tool steel exhibits equivalent performance to traditional wrought H13 across various machining processes, including milling, drilling, and welding, without causing warp or distortion. The report outlines the stability of the material during machining and its ability to maintain flatness. Additionally, it details the results of coating, heat treatment, and durability tests, confirming that Mantle's printed H13 can achieve the desired hardness and surface finish comparable to traditional methods. The findings indicate that Mantle's H13 tool steel is suitable for a wide range of applications, including molding with abrasive materials under aggressive conditions.
