This case study outlines how FTMO, an educational and technology-driven trading company, enhanced its database performance by migrating to MariaDB Cloud on Google Cloud. As FTMO's user base and transaction volume increased, the existing database faced limitations, resulting in slow queries and bottlenecks during peak trading hours. To address these challenges, FTMO sought a managed solution that provided high availability, reliability, and reduced operational overhead. MariaDB Cloud offers autoscaling, multi-zone availability, and built-in monitoring, allowing FTMO to maintain performance during traffic spikes. After the migration, FTMO reported approximately three times faster performance during busy periods, enabling immediate launches of new trading cohorts. The solution also improved uptime and resilience, allowing FTMO to focus on innovation rather than maintenance. The case study highlights the successful collaboration between FTMO and MariaDB Cloud engineers during the rollout, which included schema configuration and workload tuning.
