This case study details the comprehensive transformation project undertaken by a leading Canadian retailer in partnership with Maveneer over a four-year period. The project focused on retrofitting picking, sortation, and storage solutions across multiple distribution centers. Key components included the implementation of two goods-to-person systems and the integration of four new conveyor systems with existing equipment, ensuring smooth operational transitions. The Central Canada Distribution Center saw enhancements such as 27,000+ bin locations, 86 robots, and 15 pick/induction workstations, which improved order fulfillment efficiency and reduced labor costs. The Eastern Canada Distribution Center featured a cutting-edge goods-to-person system with 20,000+ bin locations and 51 robots, expanding capacity by approximately 13,000 sellable locations. The project achieved a 57% increase in storage capacity and a 35% increase in facility throughput, all completed without unplanned downtime, exceeding budget expectations and delivering significant savings to the retailer.
