Gwinnett County Traffic Management System Deployment

This document is a case study detailing the deployment of SWARCO McCain’s Omni eX Intersection Control Software and MyCity Adaptive Traffic Technology in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The county, which has experienced rapid population growth, faced significant traffic congestion challenges. To address these issues without major hardware investments, Gwinnett County opted for an innovative adaptive traffic management system. The deployment marks the first use of this technology in Georgia, with the system being monitored continuously by SWARCO McCain. The project, which began in November 2024, involved collaboration with Utilicom and included a 12-month timeline for implementation and performance evaluation. By April 2025, the software was successfully deployed on 11 third-party 2070 controllers, with MyCity Adaptive control activated in May 2025. The adaptive system aims to enhance traffic flow, reduce delays, and improve overall intersection efficiency, leveraging existing infrastructure and minimizing costs.
