This case study outlines the modernization of North Vancouver's traffic management system through the partnership between SWARCO McCain and Innovative Traffic Solutions, Inc. The city faced challenges with outdated Siemens database management software and legacy traffic management solutions, which hindered future innovations. The objective was to upgrade these systems to enable the integration of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The solution involved replacing outdated cabinets with SWARCO McCain's ITS Cabinets and transitioning to a cloud-based central traffic management system. The integration of MyCity TMS1 and 35 McCain ATC eX NEMA Controllers, powered by Omni eX® Intersection Control Software, enhanced remote monitoring and control of traffic signals. Additionally, the Transparity Adaptive system optimized signal timing based on real-time traffic conditions. The project included training for city personnel to ensure a smooth transition from hardware-centric to software-driven solutions, ultimately paving the way for a more efficient traffic management system aligned with the city's future initiatives.
