Traffic Management Solution for Hurricane Threatened Areas

This document is a technical report detailing the implementation of the SWARCO McCain MyCity Adaptive solution in Highlands County, Florida, in response to the traffic challenges posed by Hurricane Ian in September 2022. The report outlines how the rising water levels of Lake Jackson affected Highway 27, leading to the need for a traffic detour. It describes the installation of McCain ATC eX NEMA Controllers at 14 intersections along the highway, which are interconnected through the MyCity Adaptive software. This system adjusts traffic signal timings based on real-time data to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow. The report highlights the benefits of the MyCity Adaptive solution, including its ability to respond to unexpected traffic patterns, reduce delays, and enhance coordination among intersections.
