This case study details the upgrade of the traffic management system in North Little Rock, Arkansas, undertaken by the city in partnership with SWARCO McCain and Pinkley Sales. The city faced significant challenges with its existing traffic system, particularly with frequent call-outs to cabinets due to faulty wiring and inadequate traffic flow along McCain Boulevard, the busiest corridor. In the fall of 2022, the city replaced outdated NEMA cabinets with McCain ATC Cabinets and installed ATC eX2 NEMA Controllers, along with Omni eX Intersection Control Software and MyCity TMS. This transition aimed to enhance traffic management efficiency and data collection. The results showed marked improvements, including an 18% reduction in travel times eastbound and a 15% reduction westbound on McCain Boulevard. The upgrade has allowed for better timing plans and more accurate data collection, positioning SWARCO McCain as a key player in the future of traffic signal technology in the region.
