This document is a case study detailing the traffic management system upgrade implemented in the City of Sevierville, Tennessee. The project aimed to streamline traffic management and reduce the need for extensive control efforts. SWARCO McCain was selected as the technology provider to enhance the existing traffic signal system by introducing remote monitoring and alarm systems. The upgrade included the implementation of Advanced Transportation Controllers (ATC) with Omni eX® software, integrated with the MyCity Traffic Management System (TMS). The initiative was supported by Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grants and was executed from 2017 to 2022. The city, which experiences heavy congestion due to its location and annual visitor influx, sought to improve travel times and overall traffic flow. The project also focused on modernizing outdated traffic controllers and included features for traffic-responsive control over multiple roadways, thereby enhancing corridor management and reducing delays.
