This technical report outlines the deployment of SWARCO MyCity Adaptive signal control on Duff Avenue in Ames, Iowa, aimed at improving traffic performance. The report details the challenges faced due to varying traffic patterns, especially during peak periods and football game days, where traditional signal operations proved inadequate. The MyCity Adaptive system was implemented to dynamically adjust green times and cycle lengths based on real-time vehicle demand, eliminating the need for preset coordination plans. The report highlights the addition of a dedicated gameday plan to manage heavy traffic effectively. Since its deployment in March 2025, the system has optimized traffic flow across 14 intersections, leading to significant improvements in travel times. The results indicate that MyCity Adaptive provided a 29 percent reduction in evening southbound travel times compared to traditional operations, demonstrating enhanced efficiency and mobility along the corridor. The report emphasizes the benefits of adaptive traffic management in urban settings.
