This technical report outlines the partnership between the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and SWARCO McCain for the deployment of the MyCity Traffic Management System (TMS) in Washington, D.C. The objective of the project was to modernize outdated traffic infrastructure to accommodate significant mobility demands from various modes of transportation, including pedestrians, cyclists, buses, and cars. The DDOT managed over 1,600 signalized intersections with legacy systems, facing challenges related to congestion and inefficient signal timing. The report details the phased migration from the existing QuicNet system to the new MyCity TMS, including the installation of advanced McCain ATC FleX® Controllers and Omni eX® Intersection Control Software. The implementation of this modern traffic management system aims to enhance safety, reduce congestion, and improve the reliability of traffic control operations across the city's complex intersections. The deployment is positioned as a foundational step towards supporting smart city initiatives within Washington, D.C.
