Retrospective Clinical Study on OptiView Transparent Gel Dressing

This document is a clinical study evaluating the effectiveness of OptiView Transparent Dressing with HydroCore Technology in preventing pressure injuries (PIs) among patients at risk. The study included 34 patients with moderate to severe risk of developing PIs, specifically targeting areas such as the sacrum, hip, and midback. The objective was to assess the dressing's ability to prevent PIs, improve patient satisfaction, and reduce nursing staff time associated with dressing changes. Results indicated that the transparent nature of the dressing allowed for visual skin assessments without daily removal, and the average wear time increased to 4.5 days compared to traditional foam dressings. Notably, none of the patients developed PIs under the OptiView dressing during the study period. The findings suggest that OptiView can effectively reduce the incidence of PIs and improve overall patient care in acute settings. The study outlines the methodology, results, and implications for nursing practices in pressure injury prevention.
