This technical report investigates the optimization of feed strategies in intensified fed-batch processes using Cellvento® ModiFeed Prime Feed. It addresses the unique challenges and opportunities presented by intensified fed-batch methods in biopharmaceutical production, particularly focusing on the nutrient demands of Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cell cultures. The study evaluates the impact of initiating feeding on day 0, as opposed to the conventional day 3, to support higher inoculation densities. Results indicate that productivity can be achieved in 9 days with intensified techniques, compared to 14 days with traditional methods. Two preferred feeding strategies were identified, which streamline future process evaluations. The report also discusses the role of intensified fed-batch in enhancing efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
