This case study details the Ministry of Justice's (MoJ) Prison Technology Transformation Programme (PTTP), which aimed to modernize the IT infrastructure within HM Prison Service (HMPS). The programme was initiated in April 2020 following the approval of the Outline Business Case by HM Treasury. The primary objective was to replace the outdated Quantum technology platform, which had been criticized for its slow performance and lack of collaboration tools. The PTTP involved migrating over 60,000 HMPS users to Microsoft O365, upgrading network links, and providing new laptops and devices. The outcomes of the programme were evaluated through user feedback, indicating significant improvements in IT performance and user satisfaction. The case study highlights the collaboration between MoJ and Methods, which provided essential support throughout the programme, including project management and business analysis. The successful delivery of PTTP resulted in enhanced productivity and user experience, with a notable increase in user satisfaction ratings.
