This case study details the implementation of the Microlise fleet technology system at PGR Timber, a building and timber merchant operating across Essex and Surrey. Founded in 1984, PGR Timber has expanded from a single site to a multi-site operation with a fleet of 55 vehicles, making over 60,000 deliveries annually while covering approximately 800,000 miles. The company faced challenges with their previous fleet management system, which lacked the necessary features for tracking and visibility. The Microlise system was introduced to enhance road safety, improve driver confidence, and streamline operations. Key features include a telematics and tracking system designed for smaller fleets, a 5-way camera system for improved visibility, and in-cab Drive Tabs for blind spot monitoring. The results of implementing this technology include increased operational efficiency, reduced errors, and a decrease in at-fault accidents, supported by camera evidence for insurance claims. The partnership with Microlise has provided PGR Timber with essential support and resources for ongoing development.
