This technical report details the EK35 stabilization project conducted on a secondary unpaved runway to support safe aircraft operations during the repair of the primary paved runway. The project aimed to address challenges such as insufficient gravel thickness and poor runway conditions. The solution involved lab testing to determine the optimal application rate of EK35, removal of loose stones, and a hybrid installation approach that combined blended and topical applications. The results indicated a 33% increase in California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and an average compaction exceeding 96% of the maximum dry density. The project successfully supported critical aircraft operations while ensuring the runway's performance was enhanced for future use. This case establishes a framework for stabilizing unpaved runways under constrained conditions, demonstrating the flexibility of EK35 to adapt to varying subsurface conditions and operational demands.
