This technical report outlines the SECUR Stabilization project undertaken by Midwest to enhance the reliability of gravel runways for private aviation infrastructure in North Slope, Alaska. The project was initiated to address the challenges faced by a major oil producer, which required a dependable solution for its gravel runway that supports year-round Q-400 operations. The existing runway was suffering from significant loss of surface fines, leading to reduced strength and performance issues during thaw cycles and heavy rainfall. The SECUR Stabilization system was identified as the optimal solution after extensive laboratory testing. The report details the challenges of stabilizing the runway surface, creating a high-strength surface for various aircraft, and completing the construction within a limited timeframe. The solution involved laboratory testing, installation of the SECUR System, and coordination with the customer’s construction team.
