This technical report outlines a multi-year program utilizing EK35® to enhance the performance of a gravel runway in a remote northern Canadian community. The primary objective of the program was to improve runway strength, reduce dust emissions, and minimize maintenance needs. The program involved an initial heavy application of EK35® followed by lighter annual applications over four years. Routine testing and monitoring were conducted to assess the runway's condition throughout the program. Results indicated a significant increase in the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) of the runway surface, with improvements maintained over time. Additionally, the program achieved a substantial reduction in airborne particulate matter and completely eliminated routine maintenance activities such as grading and watering. The findings confirm EK35® as an effective long-term solution for runway stabilization, particularly in challenging environments with limited resources. The report emphasizes the importance of such solutions for ensuring safe and reliable runway conditions for aviation operations.
