This technical report details a large-scale renewable energy development project focused on solar power generation and battery storage in New Mexico. The project faced significant challenges due to the weak sandy soils, which were inadequate for the required construction and infrastructure. Initial stabilization attempts using conventional cement were inconsistent, necessitating a more effective solution. The report outlines the successful application of Midwest's Soil Sement Engineered Formula® to stabilize the top six inches of native soil, achieving the specified unconfined compressive strength of 200 psi. Independent testing confirmed that the strength requirements were met, and the project was completed efficiently within 21 days. The results demonstrated a substantial increase in the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) value from 2 to over 35, showcasing the effectiveness of the stabilization method. The report concludes by positioning the Soil Sement Engineered Formula® as a preferred alternative for future renewable energy projects facing similar soil challenges.
