This research article presents a retrospective MRI analysis aimed at identifying predisposing anatomic factors for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. The study involved a case control design with two groups: 100 patients who underwent ACL reconstruction and 100 age-matched controls who had non-ACL surgeries. The analysis focused on various morphological measurements of the knee, including tibial and condylar geometry, which were assessed by independent reviewers. Results indicated significant differences in lateral meniscus bone angle, cartilage height, and femoral notch width between the two groups. The study also utilized logistic regression to analyze factors influencing ACL injury risk, revealing that female gender and certain anatomical measurements increased the odds of ACL surgery. The findings underscore the importance of recognizing these anatomical variations in young athletes to better stratify injury risk and inform clinical decisions regarding surgical interventions and rehabilitation protocols.
