This case study details Mistral's design and development of Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) utilizing the Robot Operating System (ROS) and drive-by-wire technology. The UGV operates independently without human intervention, relying on various sensors to perceive its environment. The primary customer is a leading defense lab focused on Information & Communication Technology and Intelligent Systems development. Mistral was tasked with creating a rugged all-terrain vehicle capable of autonomous driving for security and surveillance tasks. The solution involved integrating multiple sensors, including LIDAR and RADAR, along with a custom-designed electronic system. The vehicle is equipped with cameras for comprehensive situational awareness and is designed to operate in diverse weather conditions. Challenges included selecting a suitable platform for cross-country operations and developing web-based applications for remote vehicle control. The project highlights Mistral's expertise in delivering a complete solution encompassing hardware, software, and system integration.
