This technical report presents an analysis of the effectiveness of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in reducing traffic crashes and improving road safety. The report is based on data shared through the Partnership for Analytics Research in Traffic Safety (PARTS), which involves collaboration between major auto manufacturers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The analysis incorporates data from 98 million vehicles and 21.2 million crashes, making it the largest study of ADAS to date. Key findings indicate significant reductions in various types of crashes, such as a 49% decrease in front-to-rear crashes for vehicles equipped with automatic emergency braking (AEB). The report also highlights improvements in AEB's effectiveness over different model years and a notable reduction in single-vehicle frontal crashes involving non-motorists. The study emphasizes the potential of ADAS technologies to enhance vehicle safety and suggests future assessments to further explore their impact on crash severity reduction.
